it wasn’t as painful as your imagining! and one of my favourite tattoos, swallows recur in my tattoos quite a lot: i thrive off independence, swallows are a reminder to keep my wings spread and to keep flying towards my dreams! they also remind me a lot of my mum, the house i grew up in with her had lines and lines of swallowed sitting on the phone wires outside our window, my mum painted them around the house, while im at uni they keep me close to my mum!
